Ben has an MA in Photojournalism from the London College of Printing and began his career as a photojournalist before moving into commercial photography. Over the last twenty years Ben has worked for some of the world’s best-known brands on shoots across six continents.

Ben started painting in earnest during the Covid-19 pandemic when, like so much else, his commercial photography was rendered impossible. In need of a creative outlet he began painting landscapes near his home in the heart of the Pewsey Vale. He found his photographer’s eye for composition and light translated into his painting, resulting in works with a natural, distinctive style that are highly evocative of both place and season.

“My hope for a painting is that it will hold someone’s attention, if only for a few moments, creating a connection between the viewer and what they see on the canvas in front of them. Every time that happens I consider the painting to be a success.”

Despite his commercial photography work being busier than ever Ben has no intention of putting down his brushes and now combines his time between both disciplines.

“My continued love of photography unquestionably helps to inform and improve my painting, and indeed I’ve been delighted to discover that the same is true in reverse.”
